I had quite a meltdown in guild chat at lunch today. How can I be in my late 50s and still have so many "left out kid" outsider buttons?!!?! Doesn't it ever get better?! *sigh*

I am evidently not a very easy person to get to know. And I know I don't have easy conversation or much of a sense of humour. I dunno but I just feel like crying... and it really probably is mostly stress and the end of fatigue from being sick. But waaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

At one point or another I, too, get my 'outside buttons' activated. Story of my life. While I can talk everybody's head off when I know them well, other times my shyness takes over and I just hide. That's where my camera comes in handy. And then, after I've hidden and everybody thinks that I don't want any contact, I start whining because nobody calls. LOL

And even though I know this about myself, it still hurts. And I'm sorry, this is hurting you. Fatigue just doesn't allow running from stuff, but it doesn't create it IMHO. So, treat yourself well, and then get in touch with the folks that you know love and accept ya. That way, you're on safe ground.

Hugs!

Thanks for the hugs! Oh I totally hear the "I've hidden and people don't think I want contact" thing! Let's support each other in acknowledging our outsider buttons and be, well, friends. :)

Teh Sick it sucks and makes us vulnerable

How can I be in my late 50s and still have so many "left out kid" outsider buttons?
And can we trade them in for something useful? Like a bubble wand?

*giggles* love that icon!

(mine is the logo of a company called Western Truck Fabrication; I nearly ran into the back of one of their products, I was laughing so hard)

Ugh - sounds very frustrate-y, and I sympathize. Buttons like that aren't any fun; mine, like yours, often get more sensitive when I'm sick or stressed.

Heh. If I'm doing well, I can catch myself saying "idiot bear" to myself and change it to "silly old bear". But it's always an afterthought.

Depression lies.

((((BIG HUGS))))

I'm not sure it gets much better -- I'm turning 64 in less than a month, and still have most of my "left out kid" buttons. I have discovered that I'm pretty good at listening, so feel free to call, or drop by to chat.

Thank you for the virtual hugs. It reminds me of your wonderful comforting RL hugs. You do listen and hug very well and thank you for the offer.

I'm impressed that you're even taking on social situations when you're as exhausted and stressed as you are. I'd be hiding and waiting until I felt better.

The main thing I have to remind myself of, when I'm worn out, is not to draw generalizing conclusions, because they're very likely to be more negative than the situation really warrants.

I hope things feel more normal soon!
