But, can I point out a couple of things without offending? The reins usually on a real time halter are attached to it by rings near the mouth. Also, halter around the head is closer to the head. And I'm a bit confused, Is this a English, Australian or Western saddle?
Or, am I being a totally Horse geek about all this?
Yeah I noted posture too but didn't want to say more and sound like total pain. I was thinking the beefy look could be Percheron? I hope I remembered the breed name right. It's not grey Like the Norwegian draft horses.
*laugh* I think you are overthinking this. I don't know what kind of horse it is meant to be, I just liked color and the feathers. They did have a number of draft horses available, also a unicorn. *grin*
Sometimes it gets my hands correctly on the reins and sometimes not. It is a western saddle. I'd much rather have an English side saddle since I ride in the Victorian-themed sims, but this is what was available.
The thing that has amazed me about it is that it is actually more fun to "ride" than to walk around. I'm am continually amazed by the reactions a 3D world invokes in me, when I think it should be the same as the old chat-based MUUs I sometimes hung out in.
I understand the more fun part about ride vs walk. Most horse "tours"bore me to tears after spending not a small amount of time of my teen years on a horse.Walking?! Oh no! Ride the wind? OH YEAH!
WEll, I almost thought it was a Australian saddle. It has no saddle blanket and no saddle horn. Much like the Aussie saddle in look.Aussie saddles are a hybrid of the English saddle. Bit bigger than English saddles. Sometimes has horn some times not. It has wide seat like Western and longer stirrups than English too. But, like the English not very ornate and smaller than Western saddle.
Hmm. Perhaps you can explain Second Life to me? I've created an account and been poking around in it, but I have the profound feeling I'm missing something. What (other than buy upgrades to one's avatar and gamble with virtual slot machines) does one do in Second Life?
Well, I am networking with librarian colleagues from all over the world and working on creating access to information. I created a pathfinder on one's thyroid for Thyroid Awareness Month (January). Info Island (and the info archipelago which is up to 6 islands I think) has general and genre libraries. I hope to offer a show of my space art in the Science Fiction Library sometime in the next couple of months.
Last night I went to a genealogy lecture on researching one's Revolutionary War ancestors but I couldn't stay on long enough to go to the opening of the new genealogy library. I've gone to live music concerts and attended gallery openings. I go dancing and ride my horse. I visit with friends and meet new folks. I have enjoyed visiting Better World Island and seeing the Water Institute and the other non-profits there. I joined Code Pink inworld (since I often march with them irl).
I am constantly finding new things to do and new places to visit. The city of Dublin has been recreated (as have Paris, Amsterdam and New York). It is fun to visit and sample the live music in Dublin, check out the Eiffel Tower in Paris, and just generally enjoy the ambiance. There are island for role players of various sorts (I haven't explored that aspect much).
Use the search window - you can search classifieds... but also events and you can limit to arts events, educational events or whatever. Also search groups to see if there are folks doing things you are interested in. (Like perhaps, Burning Life, the Burning Man group creating events in SL.) There are hundreds of thousands of folks dreaming up things to do and share in SL. I, for one, am having a blast exploring them!
Heh heh. I got my first non-human avatar... a hedgehog. (You don't know me well enough to know this probably but I have about 20 hedgehogs, mostly plush, in my office at work.) I am seriously considering the dragon avs available too.
You can order or shoo 'im, or run a knife through 'im The one thing you cannot do is stick it to 'im. If you try to seduce 'im, you'll end in a fix, His prickles defend him against rampant pricks. .... But the hedgehog can never be buggered at all.
