Kurt & I managed our 3-1/2 mile walk today. For the first time ever I didn't stop in the last patch of shade before the crest of the worst hill. Go me. OTOH, I'm up two pounds. *sigh* Between Kurt's migraines and my cold this is the first walk we've managed in almost two weeks.

I finished Berna's search and had about 1/2 an hour if work time left and really just didn't feel like cleaning my desk (although I admit it *must* be done!) and so I worked on the invite for the New Year's party. I think it turned out really fun. Kurt & Russell both insisted that I say "AarrgghhSVP". I hereby disclaim all responsibility for this pun! *giggle* I will be handing out invites to folks I see, if you want one emailed as a pdf, just let me know.

We had a small (7 people) Tuesday dinner last night. Fondue and bread and veggies and most excellent conversation. [livejournal.com profile] oceansong came by toward the end and we had a small visit before I just fell into bed. I am *so* looking forward to the four days of holiday! Sleeping late, working on projects, catching up on email, reading my friend's Ljs. Yay!

Russell sent me the Freeway Blogger about creating and documenting highway protest signs. Makes me wish i always carried a camera. My favorite is "Dulce et decorum est por Halliburton mori". Do check out the archive! And there is a how-to section in case freewayblogging appeals to you. From the latter "WHY IT MATTERS: On any given day the average American is subjected to about 4,000 images and messages. Of these about 3,990 are generated by corporations. Not coincidentally, about 95% of them are lies. Like weblogs, freewayblogs are one of the last outlets for individuals to express themselves to the masses. In other words, people need to know what you have to say even more than you need to tell them. Go wild. When the intellectuals and politicians fail, it's time for the artists to step in." Yes, I agree.

Good site for seeing how the FTAA protests went - http://www.ftaaimc.org/en/
It makes me crazy the way dissent is treated these days. Maybe I should freeway blog about it. Except that over half the people I talk to don't even know what FTAA is or that there was a major protest going on. How can you educate people that their hard won protections are being stolen by corporations if they are oblivious. Am I just an aging hippy radical becoming a cynical curmudgeon. Um, can women be curmudgeons? Whatever. I feel marginalized every time a media person sneers at Dennis Kucinich. They are deciding already who is electable even before a single primary or caucus. Dennis *gets it* on so many levels. It may be that someone who believes as I do is unelectable... but dang I'm glad such a person is running for president anyway. It is almost enough to give me hope.
