An attack of anti-nostalgia

Back in November I went looking for songs for a music survey and found some songs from the album Mountain Moving Day by the Chicago Women's Liberation Rock Band and downloaded the MP3s (I have the vinyl but who knows when I'll get around to digitizing those!). Tonight I put it on my iPod and was dancing around listening to "Secretary" and the phrase "Maybe we'll all wear pants tomorrow" totally flipped me out. When I first heard those words I totally identified with what an incredible transgression it would be for a secretary in 1972 to show up at work in pants. In 1969 or 1970 I was suspended from school for a week for wearing pants to school. The line in the song sung in a totally ironic and in your face way would be totally meaningless to a younger woman. Wow. The world really has changed. CWLRB still kicks ass though. Think I'll put this thing on repeat and just rock out.
