rowanfEh, sitting in a bar with free wifi. Had a couple of Knob Creeks and some fried calamari -- lightly toasted and yum!
Madly wishing to be in WoW running holiday stuff. Got on for 15 min at lunch and said "hi" but didn't run a single horseman with no bloody internetz *sigh*
Took a few notes in this morning's keynote. Tweeted other sessions. And must admit not so much in this morning's keynote.
Sitting in the morning keynote. Still no internet. I am 15 minutes into "One moment while we initiate your Internet connection..." The guy next to me says there are only 100 seats so you have to get here early. *facepalm*
Jane Dysart mentions that the conference is being blogged at http://www.libconf.com/ - check it out.
Lee Raine of Pew Internet says they are a "fact tank". They don't have opinions about the news of the day, the share facts. He thinks Tweckle should be a new word - it is heckling a keynoter via twitter.
Revolutions
1. Internet Broadband - 78% of adults have broadband at home Content creation - 65% of internet users are on social media, 55% share photos but only 14% are bloggers. 13% use twitter. 6% use location services (9% allow location awareness on social media)
2. Mobile 327.6 million phones (compare to 315.5 million US pop). 59% of adults connect to the internet via mobile. (shows lots of numbers but it is hard to see - this ballroom gives you a choice of seeing speaker or slides this year since they didn't put a screen behind the speaker.) I'll post his slide link when he tells us what it is.
Yep, he said he talks too fast because he is a native New Yorker. I have no idea what the rest of his five revolutions were. I'm overwhelmed by verbiage.
Wow, I'm actually fairly toasted. Feels good. But back to reading Enchantment Emporium for the umpteenth time (umscore time?) rather than trying to be lucid. Bourbon is goooood. Calamari had at least half tentacles. Doing this again tomorrow!
