I heard a story (KGO radio) about women trying to escape an abuser being followed using the GPS in their phone. If they were on a family plan, only the person (usually the abuser) who formed it can dump you from it. There was a short segment on how to disable the GPS on the phone.

When you're trying to escape a criminal involved in your life, GPS is a double-edged sword.

I had an ex who kept calling every so often, and I couldn't get him to stop calling. I knew that if I had the phone number changed--not free for any reason I know of then--a mutual friend would simply give it to him, thinking he was trying to get two friends together again. Yes, he was an idiot on this subject. He had called so often my senior year to get me to reconsider his request that we marry immediately so he could join the Navy (don't ask) that I left my phone off the hook, since if I didn't, he was calling several times a night. The college phone "service" would not block any calls, no matter what.

I would shake after every call, and I developed recurring nightmares. This was before the Saldana case, thus stalking as we know it wasn't a criminal matter.
