And in my Second Life...

Whilst writing my last journal entry I realized I haven't said much about my Second Life. Lots of things are going on there too. I have been getting up early and going to work to get inworld right up until I have to start working. I am preparing to have an art show at the Talis Science Fiction & Fantasy Library on Info Island. No date has been set but I have been getting the pieces together, consulting with the library director (and with JJ, another librarian who has coordinated art shows) and, at the director's suggestion, creating a box of free textures for a gift to gallery goers. I finished up on my box of freebie textures this morning. Whew!
And yesterday I found a lovely space suit to wear to the opening. I had been wanting something that looked like I had walked off the cover of a 50's SF novel. This isn't quite that, but it is very elegant and I love it! *grin* I'll have to take a picture next time I'm inworld to post to my flickr stream.
Scar has been getting involved with a roleplaying group that has an island. Our friends Huw & Eilirien are already playing there and told us about it. I'm not sure I have time for gaming. There is a librarian machinima group starting and there will be a ten week course on doing machinima that I really want to take. Hmm. I haven't mentioned machinima before. I made a movie of Scar ice skating back in December, my first and only effort so far. It wasn't great and I didn't post it to You Tube or anything. (Though I considered it just so I could share it with friends.) I hadn't learned yet how to get rid of the interface whilst doing movies so it is fairly distracting. And I couldn't figure out any way in iMovie to clip the frames so get rid of the interface. In fact I thought iMovie pretty much sucked. I expect I need to have Russell get me Adobe Premiere and maybe After Effects. But that gives me another insane time-sink to get involved with. Eeep! Maybe just Premiere Elements. I can always upgrade to the full version later and hopefully the interface learnings will transfer.
Anyway, things in Second Life are just as crazy busy as my first life. I *really* am looking forward to getting a MacBook Pro sometime in the next few months. I need to be able to see things in SL faster and the bigger hard drive will give me room for video editing programs. Sometimes I feel like such a geek!
