Last night was the long-awaited Jimmy Buffett & the Coral Reefer Band gig at Shoreline. I had cancelled 4th Tuesday dinner which month so [livejournal.com profile] mr_kurt and I could go. And y'know what? It was to totally worth it! We had lawn seats and it was freezing but we had brought lots of blankets and a picnic and managed to have a great time grooving to the tunes and eating sushi and other Whole Foods goodies Kurt had picked up. I tried his strawberry margarita but I am still tequila challenged, it just doesn't taste good to me.

I really love the crazy energy of Parrotheads. And the strange fashion sense... I want a purple irridescent hula skirt too! And that Salty Piece of Land t-shirt with a pirate parrot skull & crossbones (no sign of one on ebay though). At one point a nearby dancer came and gifted us with a glass of lager. Not that either of us drink beer really, but it was a nice gesture. There wasn't much of a parking lot party... no doubt the cold damped the tropical attitude. And there seemed to be a Parrothead club party of some kind that preceded the concert inside shoreline. (A good Cajun band was playing when we arrived, I meant to try and figure out who they were but got in line instead. The imperative of lawn seating won.) Kurt ran into Loren somewhere in the concession area but I didn't see him. He had a real seat rather being up on the lawn with us cheapskates.

I got home a bit after 11pm which is way too late for me to be especially competent this afternoon. Luckily there are magazines to be checked in. Plus [livejournal.com profile] mdlbear turned me on to Kevin & Kell after I send him an Ozy & Millie strip. Oh the goodness of the web. I have 2500 Kevin & Kells to catch up with! *laugh* I guess a childhood steeped in Pogo attracted me to surreal animal strips for life.

Check out Home of the Strange http://www.homeofthestrange.com I think is the url. Roni and Ferrett do a nice job on it and anyone who has ever tried to work at home can relate. Peace! (When I read posts like this one I get homesick for the Bay Area. LOL)~~~Ellen

That may be Home on the strange. I bookmarked it and can't remember. Of all the things I've lost I sure do miss my mind the most.
