Another great weekend catch-up

I used to be so good at writing in my journal! Not sure what's up with that. Hmm. Things fade when I don't write them down!
Friday - bought a new pair of shoes for caching. My Mephisto sandals are just fine... except on hillsides where they want to slide off once the bottom is sufficiently caked with mud. I am *so* ready for spring! I was looking at some nice Mephisto closed shoes but they didn't really fit. I wound up with a nice Merrill elf shoe for 1/3 of a cost. Go me. Mephisto isn't as much fun without leaving little eyes in your tread anyway. ;-) Okay, so the sandals totally fit, have arch support and I love 'em. But I miss the "M" with eyes.
Then I met Marina for lunch at the Cuban restaurant on Race St. I had a nice pork sandwich that did not fill my exacting standards for a "Cuban Sandwich" and I thought their black bean soup was watery and flavorless. I want to go back sometime an try the ropa vieja though. And the pork sandwich was good, just not "right". Then we went to the Melting Pot to see what their requirements are for parties over 8. Turns out you can't just order fondue, you have to order one of their expensive meat entrees. Bah. We cancelled our reservation. We left having decided to make fondue ourselves.
I headed over to Petra's where I spent the afternoon holding Sophie so Petra could get things done. Sophie obligingly slept and I read Pagan Polyamory, occasionally out loud when she stirred. *chortle* Less than 3 months old and already Aunt Rowan is reading her subversive books.
Friday evening Owl Moon met and had a good circle and feast. We really need to get our CoG membership application stuff together. Note to self - get moving!
Satuday was a totally grey and rainy day. Miserable. No caching for me again today. I stayed in and watched video and cuddled with Russell. We watched Supersize Me which we had missed in the theatres. Wow. I am always astonished by people who experiment on themselves. Lucky he had a vegan chef girlfriend to de-tox him afterward!
Saturday evening (having come to our senses with the help of
spikeiowa),
saffronrose and I had our joint birthday dinner at Il Fornaio. Who happily accomodated a party of 16 without even adding a pre-determined gratuity (though they did have a fee to bring in our own cake). They were featuring the Abruzzo region of Italy and the food was wonderful. Edna gave me various potential cache containers and Marina gave me a red and black Sunday Afternoon hat and Petra gave me a book on women pirates. Score! Arrrgh! Several of the party went back to Kurt & Marina's afterward for a hot tub. It was a lovely birthday party.
Sunday morning I went caching with
mr_kurt and Arthur. We went for five caches and found all of them. Then I had to hurry off to shop for food to cook for the Bridge Interfaith meeting at my house. (I had meant to shop on Saturday but the rain was just too daunting.) I made a leg of lamb, vegetable polenta and got Whole Food's parsnip pancakes. I also made some dips and cut cheese. As it turned out only 7 of the ten people expected came and one of them was fasting. Oh well. We had a good visioning meeting and mostly decided that we were in a "being" rather than a "doing" mode at the moment. We were pretty burnt out by work on the aborted water conference. We have another meal together in March before the south bay peace conference (4/22) to check in. Several of us are working on that conference but the whole group isn't taking it on. I'm not working on it this year as it is the same weekend as the Sacred Connections retreat weekend. Bah. Bi-location would be so useful!
Monday it was back to working hard getting ready for the patent meeting.
mr_kurt and I went out a lunch and got one cache together, he got one I'd already found and we DNF'd another Dr. Hug that I'd tried for before without success. I hate Dr. Hugalot caches. I just need to learn to ignore anything he's put out. Monday night we had our first session of bellydancing since before Sophie was born. We're working on dancing with Fontain's MUSE at PantheaCon (Sunday 1:30). Petra wants more rehearsals. Ack! I have enough rehearsals for the Brighid ritual! I can tell life between now and P'Con will be nuts.
