This morning is a little bit of a break. I'm actually finding time to read personal email. *wry grin* Work has been really busy this week, plus there have been all kinds of preparations for Petra & Chris' wedding.

Thursday was the rehearsal and I got to see Ardenwood's facilities. It looks like a lovely place for an outdoor wedding. I am a little worried about how cold it might be as evening draws on. It was pretty darn cold for the rehearsal. I noticed a "Maize Maze" there near the park. I think I'll have to go walk that sometime this month. *laugh* I love the idea as a harvesty activity. The rehearsal dinner was at an Afgani restaurant in Fremont called Salang Pass that was really lovely and had great food. It was a wonderful place for an informal rehearsal dinner. Chris' parents explain an Armenian custom that a bride is welcomed to the family with jewelry and gifted her with a beautiful amethyst pendant and ring. Just stunning. Lovely custom!

Friday is usually my day off but I headed to work to attend a meeting. One of the good things about all the meetings this week is I brought in my costume for the Eleusinian and I have been doing hand sewing on it. :-) I had to leave it after 4 hours and head off to Pat's Dad's funeral. I hear they went on for the whole rest of the day. It was interesting to attend a funeral at Oak Hill Cemetery. I have done so much genealogical research there and I almost bought a plot there myself. Pat's Dad was involved in the Lion's Club and the American Legion and there were a lot of his friends there. The Legion did their own ceremonies as part of the memorial service and at grave side. I hadn't seen those rituals before and it was interesting. The memorial service was led by a lay reader from Pat's sister Nancy's church. There were many moving passages where she called upon us to celebrate the life of Dan Smith. I don't think I had actually met him. Maybe once in passing. But I am happy to be among those who will remember the stories. What is remembered, lives.

I hurried off from the funeral to meet Kurt & Marina to go to dinner at E&O Trading Company. I really welcomed a mangopolitan after my long hard day. We had a lovely, yummy dinner and came back to the house to visit. I got to bed at a reasonable hour and now look forward to getting ready for the wedding. My hair is washed, I need to do my nails and run a few errands. Post-wedding brunch tomorrow and maybe even a film (I'm leaning toward Under a Tuscan Sun or Once Upon a Time in Mexico). We shall see!
