shower & songwriter's showcase
Sep. 20th, 2003 10:45 pmRussell and I went to the mall this morning. I can't remember the last time we shopped together (or the last time I was at Valley Fair). We have decided we want a new set of dishes (after I spectacularly broke a one of our large 25 year old corelle ware dishes the other day). We're looking at about four Pfaltzgraff patterns - Orchard (my fave), French Quarter (his fave), Orleans and Mission berry (which we need to see in person to tell whether the color is right or would clash with the dining room). A trip to the Gilroy outlet mall to the Pfaltzgraff is in order. I have had the same dishes for so long... this is a big decision!
Today Sheila and I went off to a shower given for Petra by some of Chris' cousins. Cousin Diana has a lovely home filled with antiques bought at auction. I am *so* interested in going to auctions with Diana & her sister Dana! Fun stuff. At the shower we played the usual silly games and ate the lovely buffet spread provided. It is nice to feel like I'll have a nodding acquaintance with some of the attendees. One strange moment came when someone asked me if I was in the wedding and I said yes and she asked if I was a bride's maid. I said, "Um, no, I'm one of the priests" and you could see that that didn't make any sense to her at all. *laugh* Oh well. And, no, I have no idea what the bride's maids are wearing! *LOL*
I then headed across the Bay to the USA Songwriting Competition's Songwriter's Showcase, at Border's Books & Music at Stonestown Galleria, in San Francisco. Loren was one of four featured artists along with Mica Lee Williams, Ashia and a trio called Sonic Orange. All the artists were really excellent and I bought CDs from those who had them. What a lovely day it has been!
