running with the hunter

AMUH's Oxossi devotional last night was interesting. Enrique, who I recently talked to at Pride, was there and is joining the house. I had a good visit with him and several other friends. It was pretty much just the regulars. :-) On to the devotion part... I have a bit of a soft spot for Oxossi, partly from having gone to the Oxossi temple in Rio and partly just because the hunter archetype appeals to me. I got an Oxossi t-shirt in Rio. But I have never done altar time with him or met him at a Bembe. So it was interesting how fast I went out for him and unlike some other Orixa, I got sensa-round with this one - I was running through a saw grass plain ringed with mountains and I would smell the scent of the ground and the green grass. I was on a path, probably an animal track, and then... he was gone. No thoughts shared, no insight into what that was all about. I wanted to talk to him during consultations but the medium carrying him switched to Xango before I had the chance. Oh well. I drove home listening to Jimmy Buffett and being happy about getting to know the Orixa and working with the House.
This morning I got here at 6am and worked for awhile until Kurt got here and we went and walked our three miles. I am still not motivated to go walking on my own but I definitely feel a sense of accomplishment about walking 3 miles at least one day a week. For so long walking around the block was inconceivable. I like this better.
Note to self - b/p on 7/7 120/80 when tech took it, doc did same a half hour later and got 130/74. *grumble* I do *not* have hypertension. Got a tetanus shot.

tetanus and hypertension
Date: 2003-07-09 08:06 pm (UTC)Actually, at 120/80, we are now being considered "borderline hypertensives". but if I drop it to 90/60, they'll have kittens, I'm sure. Just like a fat pregnant lady being harrassed about not gaining weight DURING the pregnancy...yes, WE kept the weight constant, and it was clear the symbiont was gaining and the host was losing. I WAS under the care of a nutritionist, and I WAS diabetic, and off all the less than healthy stuff.
I hate it when normal gets redefined as abnormal. I also hate it when what I thought was normal for me turns out to be clinical...but they can't fix what I KNOW is wrong.
