Just to keep these somewhere - not necessarily of interest to anyone else. :)
Kiva Reports
Since Samhain 2012 we have made 13 loans via Kiva. (We have made 29 loans since we started in January 2010.) Of the thirteen, three have been entirely repaid. Our current loans are in Bolivia, Guatemala, Peru, Philippines, Indonesia, Mongolia, Cameroon, Senegal and Kosovo. Eleven of the 13 loans are to women for a variety of projects from traditional crafts, to agriculture, to retail, to restaurants/catering.. (The two men are a traditional weaver in Peru and a baker in Mongolia.)
Our initial $156 deposit has been relent again and again, so that our total loan amount is $725. I really think that this is a wonderful project that is doing a lot of good.
Our lender page is at <http://www.kiva.org/lender/nclccog> if you'd like to see photos of our lendees and read their stories.
General Interfaith report
My main interfaith work is still with the Silicon Valley Interreligious Council (SiVIC) where I am a member of the Board. We have had many meetings and projects this year. Two upcoming things you might want to know about:
We are again supporting the annual Warm Coat & Soup Ministry of Grace Baptist Church to provide warm coats, other vital supplies and a warm meal to the poor in San Jose. We are soliciting donations of coats (new or slightly used in any size) New Items (All Sizes) Socks, underwear, scarves, hats, gloves, blankets, face cloths, tents, sleeping bags. And Hygiene Kits (Goal: 400 kits) Toothbrushes, mouthwash, razors, toilet paper, soap, lotion, combs, Kleenex, shampoo, conditioner, chapstick, sanitary napkins. I would be happy to get any donations to one of the drop-off centers. The deadline for donations is December 13th. Distribution will be Saturday, December 14, 2013, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church, 484 E. San Fernando St., San José, CA 95112. Volunteers for the event are also appreciated.
My current project along with Joy-Ellen Lipsky and Nina Bhaisa is setting up the Silicon Valley Interfaith Book Club on Goodreads. Our first book will be _In Search of Grace: A Religious Outsider's Journey Across America's Landscape of Faith_ by Kristin Hahn. I will let NCLC know when we are up and running.
