Date: 2007-05-11 09:01 pm (UTC)The way the image gets fuzzy when you're moving is a little distracting, but I assume that's normal in SL. You might be able to fix it by moving, say, at half speed, and then dropping alternate frames when converting to Flash -- probably not easy with existing software, but worth considering if it ever becomes available.

Date: 2007-05-11 09:16 pm (UTC)Thanks! I had to get that message out quicly because the internet access here has been spotty. I finally walked around with my laptop in WiFi diagnostic mode to find the location of the router (OK, yes, I'm on holiday, and I'm geeky enough to do this). It turned out the Wifi router was a badly placed little Netgear single antena unit meant for modst coverage; it sat literally on a metal shelf with the antenna at a weird angle. So, I 'tuned' it - much better now.
I'll try to post a travelog later.
Ciao!

Date: 2007-05-12 06:59 pm (UTC)Getting going in Second Life
Date: 2007-05-13 08:58 am (UTC)At the moment, I'm still having problems with 2nd Life crashing my whole computer, jerky avatar movements, clothing fading in and out - leaving me naked, having my hands and arms all the same colour as the shirt... BUT your machinima has given me the impetus to start trying again, with a NEW avatar, if posible. What happens to an 'old' avatar if you just stop using it? Do you have to pay to get it removed even though it was free to start with?
I've ordered the 'Second Life for Dummies' book, I hope I get it soon.
Congratulations again on a beautiful piece of info 'art', ?? what is the term for this?? It's art, it's information, it's audiovideo, it's computers... I think I have to get my daughter into this - she is currently spending a LOT of her time playing an online computer game while she tries to figure out what she wants to do to pay the bills... I really think your machinima (trying to work out the etymology and the derivation of this word without much success) would serve as an inspiration to Youngest Daughter.
THANKS for sharing!! (and I loved hearing your VOICE!)

You could probably teach all kinds of things if you cared to advertise classes. The pay scales inworld for that pretty much suck though. *grin* Although there are language schools coming into SL trying to charge outside prices to students. A lot of universities are using SL for distance learning. So who knows where you could go with it ultimately. :-)
If your daughter gets in and wants inworld help, point her my way.
