My favorite explanations are "I use hundreds of dollars of receivers and billions of dollars in satellites to go hunting for Tupperware in the woods". Alternatively, I saw it is treasure hunts for adults. Basically people hide a "cache" which ranges in size from your little finger up to giant boxes stocked with a log book to sign. In the larger sizes there are also trade goods. I started doing this last year to try and get myself out walking more. It has pretty much worked. Plus, the hobby of geocaching has put an entire extra layer over the world - I can't pass a park without wondering if there is a cache there. *laugh* I dragged Makai and her daughter caching on our way to rehearsal last week. It is hard for me to go somewhere and not look for at least one.
