Home again (jiggety jig)
Aug. 1st, 2012 08:39 amMonday we ate the hotel breakfast and got on the road. So glad to be leaving the land of skinny bacon. I think they get 30 slices a pound at least. The hotel buffet was included in our room but we only ate it twice. If one did carbs it would have been better as they had really thick raisen bread for toast (along with bagels, 3 kinds of cereal, etc). For me though scrambled eggs and undercooked skinny bacon just wasn't ideal. No veg at all. But it got us going. The roads in the morning were not quite as packed with trucks as they had been on Thursday but the mountain roads are still not fun. We stopped in Medford for lunch at a Black Bear Diner. (They are everywhere now! I remember when there were only a handful!) Then on to Redding by about 4pm.
We stayed at another Red Lion as they promised their wifi was working (which it was). Back to Alterac Valley for a few more battlegrounds. Over the Call to Arms period, I got my rogue, Neftrosz, from lvl 47 to 52 and a couple of other toons got a level or two. Such a bummer for AV weekend to be on Faerieworlds weekend. (I'm such a geek). We went out to dinner at Cattleman's restaurant down the road (we originally were going to eat the the Red Lion restaurant but all the chairs and tables were very tall and it had more of a bar ambiance and we sat there for 15 minutes with no service. The steaks were lovely at Cattleman's and I'm sure it was a much better idea to go there.
Tuesday we drove from Redding to San Jose and are now at home. I have checked into CalJobs (which doesn't seem to working... I don't expect librarian jobs but it shows zero jobs for all of Santa Clara County) and Simply Hired (nothing new) and will get back into the swing of things. It was nice to have a few days off from thinking about it.
