Off to Colorado
Jun. 3rd, 2007 08:57 pmI flew to Denver first thing Saturday morning and called my friend Satin. We met back in alt.callahans in the late 80's or early 90's and have been friends every since... but this is the first time we have meet in meatspace. She is just as awesome as I had imagined and we had a *great* visit together. I went to her spread and met her horses, cats and husband. They fed me yummy food, shared interesting conversation and Satin even demo'd WoW for me (be very afraid). *laugh* No I am not diving into another computer addiction, but it was interesting to see.
This morning we ate at a nice diner and then she brought me back to Denver where I went over to the convention center and picked up my badge and visited a variety of vendors in the expo. The World Bank press has a series of manga on various issues, one of which is child soldiers and they are going to send me a sample. I am very jazzed about that bit of synchronicity with my possible attendance of the Goldin Institute this fall. I stood in line for a signed copy of An Inconvenient Truth from Al Gore (who had quite a speed signing processing going - no personalizations, no photos with him, just have the book open and get it signed).
