rowanf: (fox woman anime)
Russell and Erika are off in Las Vegas at some conference promoting her prostate massage CD and seeing KA. I am having a wonderful lazy weekend at home.

I've been reading Sixpence House by Paul Collins about moving his family from San Francisco to Hay-on-Wye. In a weird way it massages those fantasies one has of throwing over the traces and heading off to the country. I love visiting Hay (Russell and I have been twice) and I love the idea of book towns. It is a very different read than my usual sort of genre fiction but Denise though I'd like it and she's right. I do read the occasional quirky memoire. *grin*

We had a great circle last night with some visiting folks who are CVW but interested in the NROOGD. They seem very nice and possibly compatible and it would be so great to have some new folks. I was bagholding, having swapped with Russell because of his absense, and I like the ritual I wrote although it was a bit rough in places. Needs more work. *grin*

Yesterday and today I did avatar tours for librarians inworld at lunch time. And I put stained glass windows into our shop in Renaissance Island. Hmm. I see I haven't mentioned the shop. We don't know what we're selling, but it seemed like ti might be fun to be part of the Renn milieu so we're renting a shop. I have made a handful of stained glass windows (I am finally mastering alpha channels and targa files) and Scar is working on an amazing telescope with an animation to bend you to look at the eyepiece and then textures to show you different planets. It looks very cool so far. This evening Scar showed me his merman avatar and I just had to go get a mermaid. We don't *really* have enough water but we had fun swimming in our pond. I foresee a beach trip once I've had time to read the manuals on the HUDs.

Both days I went grocery shopping, Friday at Whole Foods for normal stuff and today at Safeway to get things WF doesn't carry. But Safeway was out of diet Pepsi in bottles so it mostly for naught. I did get shampoo and cream rinse and had a nice long bath reading my book. After all the craziness of the last few months I am *really* enjoying the lazing about.

This afternoon I saw TMNT with Kurt, Marina & Arthur. I really enjoyed it. I liked the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies (guilty pleasures) and I thought this did a good job with the franchise.

The other pleasure of the weekend is eating food Russell doesn't like. I had eggplant slices around ricotta for breakfast and pasta with a nice Danish blue cheese for dinner. More eggplant for tomorrow and probably more blue cheese, just on crackers. *happy sigh* Lazy is goooooood.
