Another big catch-up
Feb. 5th, 2007 04:11 pmWow, almost a week without journaling! I'm getting worse! Tuesday last week I worked, then got my hair done. Wednesday I worked, signed up for Lite for Life (a fairly bogus weight loss program... but I'm hoping that having someone to whom to report what I'm eating will help). We'll see. I wish their stuff was more based on actual science and less on myths like 8 glasses of water a day and chromium supplements. *shrug* I have been hovering around 200 lbs for years and I'd like to hover somewhere lower. Just saying.
Thursday I worked and had a massage with Tina. I'm so glad we're getting regular massages! Of course I then undid much of her good work by jumping on SL and doing another newbie tour. I am really happy with how those are going. I think I'm providing a useful service to the new librarians who are coming aboard.
Friday I headed up to the City to pick up my ring which was being repaired and to docent for the McDonald Windows exhibit. The jewelry store, which is going out of business in a couple of weeks didn't open at 10am as stated. I got to hang out and spend money in Union Square until their finally opened at 10:40. This was fun... but expensive! I got everyone elemental hoop earrings to go with our bellydance costumes and a handful of other fun things. Each one cheap... but they add up! And then I had 20 minutes to get my ring and get to the Presidio on time. I did make it and it turned out to be very busy (I had a fantasy I might get something done if it was quiet). But my shift is 11-2 and it was the lunch hour and all kinds of folks wandered through. All were moved by the exhibit and I had several good conversations with exhibit goers and my fellow docents. On the way home I hit Lite for Life and got a few more munchies. They are fruitcakes but they have a nice little grocery selection.
Owl Moon had a good Imbolc circle and made a place in our life for new beginnings. Not that I have time for anything new! I can't believe I agreed to docent! My Fridays are shot for the next while. It is a good, worthwhile thing to be doing. But dang, I need a workshop on saying "No"!
Saturday I went up to Oakland for the AMUH At Home (we get together the first Saturday to talk about Umbanda and have a chance to ask questions of our elders). I had a good long talk with
pearlshadow and learned alot about headwashings. I will probably headwash to Pomba sometime in the next year and I guess it was time for the process to become clearer. I came away with meditation assigments and other work ahead. New beginnings, eh. Be careful what you ask for!
Saturday night I went to Dark Forest's Imbolc and again got in touch with this point on the wheel. I miss having my Brigid altar and my Pomba altar set up all the time. I don't spend as much altar time as I used to before the temple became a dance studio. I keep my flame but I don't work with Brigid as much as I did when I first became a Daughter of the Flame. *sigh* I wish I thought that would change but I'm in overwhelm and make no promises.
Sunday was my one free weekend day in February. I spent five hours editing music for the Umbanda House. That got one hour done out of the 2-1/2 of raw recording I have to work on. Yikes. I know that it takes time but I am always optimistic that *this time* it will be less. I need to work on the audio for my podcast too. In my next free night 2/22. *sigh* Then I went out shopping and came home and went on Second Life for awhile. I'm hoping to do an exhibit of my space art at the science fiction library on Info Island and I'm getting my pieces together. I had a consult with JJ, the Caledon librarian who has helped with several exhibits. I need to redo what I've done and he gave me some great ideas. More work to do!
Today at lunch
mr_kurt and I caught a couple of caches at lunch but have otherwise been in meetings at work pretty much all day. We're gearing up for a lot of big stuff at work at the end of the month and then the end of our fiscal year at the end of March. I could use a vacation just thinking about it!
So... there I am, all caught up. I'll try to be better about writing. Doing it in weekly installments means I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of things I'd otherwise journal. While this may be a good thing for brevity, it means I won't remember all those things I don't write down. So I mean to write more often!
