Reading and hanging out
Dec. 16th, 2006 05:32 pmFriday and Saturday were pretty much lumpen days. I ran a couple of errands but mostly I read, watched video, slept and hung out in SL.
Reading - I read two older Ozy & Millie cartoon anthologies, Prehistrionics and The Big Book of Semi-Coherent Wisdom. I highly recommend them to O&M readers for D.C. Simpson's commentary. Oh, and the 2006 holiday t-shirt design of Millie at CafePress as a must have even though it won't get here in time for the holidays.
Video - I watched the first eight episodes from season four of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Staying up until 1am Saturday morning to do so was probably not my brightest moment. I really hate sleeping alone, it totally throws off my cycle!
Napping - I nap partly because if I'm asleep I don't notice that my head hurts and partly because I haven't slept well. Bleah. I am very, very tired of having a concussion headache. I keep trying to stop taking medication (partly because the high doses of ibuprofen have my stomach upset) and that isn't a good thing. I'm not sure why this goes under napping... but there you have it.
Second Life - Thursday night I went to the opening of the Alzheimer's Exhibit on Info Island II (38, 69, 24). It was put on by The Alzheimer Society of Ontario and the SL Library folks. It was a nice reception and a moving exhibit. It is so interesting to see what people do in Sl. Then I went on an iVillage tour of Second Life that I had seen advertised on the Fashionstas blog. It was really fun! We met Steller Sunshine, the first alpha tester (non-Linden) to be in SL. She told stories of the old days and it was really cool to hear that there had been a height tax (sounds good to me, given of the tall awful buildings I see) and the first day that attachments were available (she rezzed a picture of Philip Linden with a box on his arm to demonstrate). She has a giant climbable beanstalk on her land and I want to go back sometime to check it out! Then we went on to Pixel Dolls where Nephilaine Protagonist talked about having been a clothing designer in SL for about three years (for the last two years it has been how she makes her living). Then we repaired back to the iVillage Loft where Cylindrian Rutabaga was live in concert. I stuck around for a couple of songs before heading off to K&M's for a hot tub to see if that would help my aching muscles. The rest of my SL this weekend was much more usual - shopping, visiting, dancing. I tried to so some of the Winter Wonderland self-guided HUD tour but once the big machine died it was too frustrating waiting for things to rez. My iBook G4 laptop is just not a great machine for SL. I did find a free shop called "Free Dove" that has clothing freebies from a lot of SL's designers. So some of the time was spent re-ordering my inventory. *grin* I got a really cute pair of elf boots and a new top which I'm wearing with my standard red skirt. Go me.
Russell got home about 2pm on Saturday and has been showing me various videos of people's Light-o-Rama holiday light displays. Wow. The customer videos section on their website is really cool.
Tonight I'm off to help Dark Forest with some initiations. I *am* taking medications! *sigh* I sabotage myself so consistently.
