Well, for all my trepidation the flight(s) to Baltimore went well. It still took about ten hours (6-1/2 in the air plus airport time and tranfer at Dallas). I got in and had dinner at the hotel restaurant. I had a crab caesar salad which was good but very different with whatever kind of crab it was. I'm used to Dungeness, of course, being a Californian. The crab here is much more solid.

I'm hanging out waiting for my caching buddy to show up. A nice lady who responded to my query in the geocaching.com forums for someone to cache with. We're off to the Loch Raven reservoir. The weather is supposed to be just about perfect. *happy dance*

Anyway, I just wanted to say I'm safely in Maryland.

So today Debbie, 1/2 of Team Red Oak here in Maryland took me caching out at Loch Raven Reservoir, a huge lake that provides most of the drinking water for Baltimore city and county. We tramped miles through forest for a few lovely caches. The second one we found was right on Loch Raven and was one of those "up a tree" caches and was really great fun. We decided to go into Lutherville and try a couple of urban caches but we really didn't have much luck. One of the ones we didn't find was at the Fire Museum and they were having a special day with lots of historic fire trucks. I posted six pictures in my cache log should you wish to see them. We gave up on the urban caches and went back into the woods and found a lovely cache out on a point. My cache log has a picture.

Exhausted I got dropped back at my hotel and called [livejournal.com profile] auntiematter to check in since we have been playing phone tag. She asked to let her pick me up and carry me off to eat salmon. A chance to eat Laurel's cooking?! Being no fool of course I went. What I hadn't' quite understood was that this was Baldr's feast which I had in my head as being *next* weekend. I got to meet the folk of their Hof and see Angela and her family plus eat Laurel's cooking. And have a moving ritual experience or three. Very excellent evening even if my standing up ability was reduced by the miles I had hiked during the day. And did I mention Laurel's cooking?! Oh yum. And her Hof sister made this amazing strawberry cake that had all the yummy qualities of strawberry shortcake... except richer. Oh my.

Well, its 10:30pm local time and I should probably go to bed. I have a caching date at 9:30am tomorrow morning! Easy hours in my local calendar but I'm exhausted!

Edit - I should also mention that Conjure mail is down and so I am a bit hampered in the email dept. *sigh* I'll be checking work a bit more than I planned I guess. Tres spam.
