my week punctuated by illness
Oct. 13th, 2005 08:43 pmHmm. It is hard to remember what I've done this week. On Tuesday,
mr_kurt and
saffronrose and I had lunch at Yat Sing. We had to hurry back to work so Kurt to take off to an opening of Yahoo Labs at Berkeley. Marina wished she could take BART to Berkeley and meet him for dinner and I mentioned I was going up to the Devotional at BFUU and could give her a ride. So she joined me as I got off work and we drove (through terrible traffic) to Berkeley and met Kurt for dinner at Cafe de la Paz. It was fun to introduce them to one of my favorite restaurants. Oh, the yummy goodness of fried plantains! I missed being able to have a caprinha. I have decided that I will start drinking again Thanksgiving weekend. Russell and I are doing our holiday in the City and it just seems like the time. And it will be almost three weeks after my last pulse of Lamisil.
I had asked Don & Anna if they'd have dinner with me but hadn't heard back (I'd written from work and Anna had replied to my home email as it turned out). They called during dinner to see what was up. So after I parted from Kurt & Marina I got to thinking that I hadn't actually told anyone I was coming to the Devotional and so I left it to the fates... if D&A called me back by 7:45 I would go visit with them, if not I'd go to the service. They called just in time and I went over and looked at scores of pictures from Turkey. They did such cool stuff! In addition to participating in the Hekatesia at the Temple of Hekate at Lagina, they went to Haran and to a newly discovered site whose name I've forgotten which is the oldest shrine ever found. I think it was about 5,000 years older than Catal Huyuk. I am looking foreward to hearing their talk on it at PantheaCon. And on the Hekate stuff too. :-)
Wednesday I worked on my searches and did spinning at lunch again with Brad and Dan. I *really* need to practice in between Wednesdays! As the afternoon progressed I got to feeling more and more poorly. I took some meds for headache but nothing touched it. And my stomach was really upset too. About 3pm I decided I wasn't thinking well enough for my continued prescence to be useful. I came home, took more meds and fell into bed. Yuck
Today I woke enough to realize that I still had both headache and GI distress and that I wasn't going to work. I called in sick and went back to sleep. I slept until about 10:30, got up and took a long bath and then went back to sleep about 1:30. I have realized that the problems were probably seperate and that I am refluxing again. I took an anti-acid and ate only really bland food. (What little I did eat, which was just a couple of pulls of Hawaiian bread.) At about 3:30 the phone rang (a hang-up) and I was awake again. Still yucky but not blinded by the head. So I met Russell for the 4:30 showing of Serenity (his first, my third viewing) and then I came back home and went back to bed. Bleah
