gripes and grumbles and gothic poetry

Sometimes I just feel like an idiot. I spent several hours waiting for something of Russell's to finish on the computer last night before noticing that it had actually crashed at 7:28am and really wasn't doing a thing except spinning an icon. What, it can't manage a decent screen freeze. *grumble* I didn't get a thing done - I had also left my zip disk at work so didn't have my daily files. Oh well. I got to watch a couple of season 3 Buffy episodes. (I borrowed the Season 3 disks from saffronrose so I don't have to wait for them to come in from Netflix, yay!)

Okay, so this is totally silly but I love it. I always liked MadLibs as a kid.

Oh, the idiocy of companies! I have recently gotten several scamming emails trying to convince me that (a) I've ordered something from BestBuy.com and (b) that I should click on a link and give them all my credit info again. Riiiight. So, being the good netizen that I am I thought I'd alert the company to the scam. Went to their web site - no email addresses listed. Call the toll free number which is supposed to be 24/7. Message says "due to call volume we can't take your call, sorry". Whaaat! This is customer service?? If I had ever consider buying anything from them, I surely wouldn't do so now! How stupid is that?! Sometimes I wonder why I bother!

I found this poem by D.H. Lawrence in my car this morning. I have no idea where it came from. It is printed on nice deckle paper... a message from the universe?

When we get out of the glass bottle of our ego,
And when we escape like squirrels
Turning in the cage of our personality
And get into the forest again,
We shall shiver with cold and fright.
But things will happen to us so that we don't know ourselves.
Cool, unlying life will rush in,
And passion will make out bodies taut with power,
We shall stamp our feet with new power
And old things shall fall down,
We shall laugh,
And institutions will curl up like burnt paper.
