exercise, red hats, birthdays and more
Jun. 3rd, 2003 06:00 pmMonday I got back to bellydancing after way too long a hiatus. Oh, I'm sore! Petra had no other students so we had a chance to work on my water element dance for the COG festival this fall. I think we made good progress on the choreography. It is a little hard to envision how things will work in a circle rather than a rectangular living room though. *LOL* It was also just nice to have hangout time with Petra and Chris. I don't see enough of them.
Tuesday, despite my soreness, I walked 3 miles with Kurt. We went at 9:30 instead of 11:30 and it was still too hot by the end of our hour. I think I will have to find a way to motivate myself to walk without an exercise buddy. :-( I do note that I am walking much faster and despite stopping in shady spots a bit as we got to the home stretch we did a solid 3mph. With those steep hills I think that is pretty darn good. Kurt says he doesn't feel like I'm slowing him down terribly anymore. Of couse he is wearing ankle & wrist weights and I'm walking free. Still!
I stopped at Ross after work in search of a purple dress to wear to the first meeting of the RoseGarden Ruby Reds (a new chapter of the Red Hat Society). We'll see if I really click with a group with whom the only thing I have in common is age. But I have always wanted to wear a red hat and a purple dress (okay, so for another six months, I'll wear a fuschia hat and a lavender dress). I found a light purple dress with fushia flowers on it that will go wonderfully with my fuschia had, so I'm all set for the moment. *LOL* This is so crazy to consider taking on another group activity! I don't have any time in my life as it is!
We went to California Pizza Kitchen for family dinner and gave Fiona her birthday presents. Like me, she is a hoarder so she only opened the card and one wrapped present and is keeping the rest for later. *LOL* This drives Russell and Brigid a little crazy since they are both more prone to tear into everything at once. We had a nice dinner. I had yet another pizza with a salad on top. What's up with that trend, eh? I like it but it does take a bit more manuevering to eat. I had two glasses of a nice Australian shiraz which was probably a bit too much wine... they do large glasses there. Russell was driving, of course. I am quite impressed with the quality of shiraz wines from Australia lately. This was one I hadn't had before, Yellow something. *sigh* Someday I'll remember to write down labels. I *had* my palm on me and it would have been easy to do if I'd thought of it.
I got a lovely card from
ocean_song with a very subtle sheila-na-gig picture by Jen Delyth. I really love the card and I noticed that the knotwork was rather vulva-like but I wouldn't have necessarily figured it was a sheila without the back of the card notes. Very cool and spiraly and mystical. I see Jen has a new batch of cards of which this is one. I wish the site had larger pictures!
